"Harmaa linna: eli Kertomus Ristilän hovista" by Axel Gabriel Ingelius is a novel published in 1851. Considered Finland's first horror novel, it follows young tutor Harald Thalberg as he arrives at the infamous Ristilä manor. Inspired by a mysterious death at a real Finnish estate in 1839, the story blends Gothic atmosphere with questions of murder, suicide, and dark secrets. As a Finnish answer to popular English Gothic horror novels, this pioneering
work brings European Gothic traditions to the haunting landscapes of rural Finland. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
