"Les pastorales de Longus, ou Daphnis et Chloé" by Longus is a Greek pastoral novel written in the 2nd or 3rd century CE. Two abandoned infants, Daphnis and Chloé, are raised by shepherds on the island of Lesbos. As teenagers tending their flocks together, they fall deeply in love but struggle to understand their awakening feelings. Pirates, rival suitors, and their own innocence stand between them and fulfillment. This bucolic tale explores
the delicate boundary between nature and culture through a tender education in love. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
